Whether it’s a vacation or work-related travel, everything involved in planning is fun except when it comes to packing. What to leave or take and the question of whether the airport authority allows some items makes the entire process a challenge. Depending on the number of days I’ll be away, I have to pack every important thing while observing the required weight limit of the luggage.
In this article, we’ll look at quick packing tips that’ll make the process easier and enjoyable.
Prepare a List
Many are the times when we forget essential items like phone chargers and shaving devices. I bet we don’t want to find ourselves in such a mess when abroad. As such, preparing a list containing all the electric items, clothes, and other essentials before we start packing is the first thing to do. This list will become useful when packing because every item packed will be ticked on the list. Moreover, I can confirm whether I have everything or forgot to include them in the bag using it to cross-check.
Pack Lightly
Most airlines limit how much weight individuals can board with. In case the weight goes beyond the issued limit, we are forced to pay for it, which is expensive. Therefore, we ought to pack the essential items that may not be found at the destination where we are going. I’ll not have difficulties in carting the bag around with light luggage when switching planes or walking to a hotel.
Use a Unique Suitcase or Travel Bag
Black suitcases are common among travelers, and we don’t want our luggage to get mixed up. With a shiny or odd-colored bag, it’s easy to notice it when alighting or wanting to get something. However, the bag material must be of high quality, and the zippers should be durable to avoid bursting before the journey is complete.
Pack What Can be Worn Twice or More
With a limited luggage size, packing all the clothes is a pipe dream. As such, we must take with us clothes that can be worn several times without showing dirt. The earrings, necklaces, and other electronics should also match with our clothing to avoid them from being tangled up. By packing these accessories and clothes, we won’t need dry cleaning services. However, separating the items and clothes at arrival is paramount.
Avoid Spilling
Beauty products and other items that might be in liquid form can spill if not closed properly. Regardless of how tight the cap may be, several factors might lead to its loosening. Therefore, open the cap and wrap the top with a small plastic bag before tightening the lid again. In case there’s a spill, it will not get on other things ensuring everything is safe. Separate the toiletries from other items and use a double zip-lock to store them.
Pack Some Must-Have Medication
Why would I need an emergency drug kit when traveling? Unknown destinations may have different foods or weather that might affect our health immediately upon our arrival. We have no clue how close or far a medical facility is. As such, packing essential medication or supplements can save us during a medical emergency. And in case you have a health condition, it becomes necessary to carry your prescription medicines when traveling. So, if you are undergoing treatment for hypertension or diabetes, it could be better to take an extra dosage of medication with you to avoid health emergencies on the way. For the ease of carrying prescriptions on a vacation, you can look for products like a diabetes purse, glucose meter case, or medical supply sling bag, which could be fashionable and comfortable to take with you everywhere. Additionally, avoid over-the-counter medicines since those might not be allowed on flights.
Stay Warm
Although we do some research on the weather conditions before flying there, ensuring that we’ve some items to keep us warm is necessary. Pack an extra shawl or socks in case the weather goes against what was expected. Also, onboard a plane, doing away with shoes and staying with socks makes the journey more comfortable. And when weather conditions deteriorate, we can use the shawls as blankets.
Types of Accessories to Pack
Smartphones can last for up to 24hrs if they’re not in constant use without the need to charge. However, some destinations may have power hitches or no electricity until someone travels several miles for a simple charge. Therefore, pack some universal adapters, a power bank, long charging cords, and other accessories to make the stay comfortable.
Bottom Line
Planning is the key to a successful trip. We ought to get the list several weeks before the organized travel and efficiently ensure everything is packed. Wondering if the packing process is a bore? Make the trip a fantastic experience by packing the essentials.
